EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it!

Ok, I admit that the title is corny, but that’s how I feel about having to write for the school newspaper. That’s a bit harsh, I don’t find it corny. I have more a mixed feeling about it. As a journalism student I am required to be a ‘reporter’ for the school’s newspaper for three semesters, earning a whopping one credit per semester. So far I’ve been working on my first article that’s due on Tuesday, Feb 15. I managed to get a couple of interviews, one of which actually recorded on my phone that’s starting to show its age. That is neither here nor there.

My article is about this restaurant that my boyfriend and I have recently fallen in love with. It’s an Irish gastropub, near my school and his house so it was pretty convenient to write about. The food is actually what inspired the menu from my previous post, the salmon covered in a saffron cream sauce with shrimp, potatoes and chorizo, also the side salad [but I didn't bother to take a picture of the salad, seen one seen them all, right?] I personally think that I managed to replicate the dinner successfully, as did my boyfriend.

After writing all of this, I realize that it barely makes any sense and I’m basically rambling. I suppose it doesn’t really matter anyway since no one reads my blog. ha. oh well. I’ll continue onward.

I’m nervous about meeting my deadline. I’m nervous that my single intro to journalism class won’t be enough to make me good enough to publish in the paper. I’m nervous that I’m going to sound like a pretentious foodie who in actuality doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I’m nervous that when I send my finished article to the restaurant, they’ll hate it and accuse me of misquoting them and then I’ll never be allowed back in. I think I’m most nervous that I won’t be cut out for any of it, and as of right now, I don’t have a back up plan for my life.

Sunday Dinner

So the Sunday dinner/my-parents-meet-my-bf’s-mom/birthday dinner was a success. There was no epic brawl between moms, no food was thrown at anyone, nothing was burned, and everything managed to come out to the table at the same time. [thanks to my boyfriend's kitchen assistance.] I did manage to take some pictures of the food, and of course as promised, I will display them proudly now!

Sunday/Birthday Dinner

As the youngest of my parent’s kids, I’m obviously the favorite. [duh.] My dad’s birthday is on Sunday, the 23rd and my mom’s birthday is the following weekend on the 31st, so I, being the awesome daughter that I am, decided to make them a wonderful feast as a birthday present to them.

As an added bonus, my boo’s mother’s birthday is next weekend also, so I extended an invite to his mama and step-dad for dinner also. It will be a sort-of “kill-two-birds-with-one-stone” event because it will be the first time mine and my boo’s mom’s will be meeting each other. [cue the epic music.]

I’m sure everything will be all fine and dandy but there’s always that “what if…?” My boyfriend’s favorite “what if..” is “what if this massive brawl breaks out?”

I highly doubt that a brawl will break out between our moms. My main concern is having dinner warm and served on time.

My menu for Sunday is..

Appetizer

Goat Cheese filled Pears wrapped in Proscuitto

Stuffed Zucchini “boats”

Dinner

My version of Scottish Salmon from a restaurant my boyfriend and I went to..

Pan-Seared Salmon with Shrimp, Chorizo, and Roasted Potatoes with a Saffron Cream Sauce.

Dessert

Birthday Cake

Baked Apples in a Rum and Brown Sugar Glaze

Ice Cream

Hopefully this won’t be overwhelming.. I don’t think it will. I’m confident in my kitchen skills. haha. I’ll post pictures when everything is cooked, I better remember at least. haha. If it doesn’t work out, pizza is always delish, right?

My trip to IKEA. =]

IKEA is just so incredibly wonderful to me. I could probably spend hours upon hours there. I mean what’s not to like?? There is all the sitting room you could possibly need if you get

Pretty much what they all look like.

tired of walking around the wondrous displays of knick-knacks and living rooms, or maybe you’re into kitchens and bathroom? They’ve got those too. Whatever room is your favorite, IKEA literally has one that will make you happy.

For those of you who have boyfriends, husbands, brothers, friends, dads, sons, daughters or anyone else that doesn’t like shopping for assemble-yourself furniture in a huge warehouse setting.. THERE’S A FOOD COURT. You can get a 50 cent hot dog. Swedish meatballs for $3.99. Salmon dinner for $6.99 They even have a Swedish food market where you can buy Swedish delicacies to bring home, like some lingonberry jelly.

Ok, ok, ok. So did I buy anything? Of course I did. Everything is so cheap I just couldn’t resist.

Awesome New Pillow!

I got myself a pillow probably the size of a couch cushion [that I'm currently lounging on] for $6.99 and a pillow case for it [$4.99]. I also got myself some handy dandy kitchen gadgets, and a new cutting board.

My boo, got himself a new computer chair that he will have tons of fun assembling tomorrow, ha. He also got a body pillow that he’s been dying for.

Sadly, I didn’t buy any take home Swedish meatballs, or any lingonberry jam, but it was still a success.

Starting from scratch.

Hello out there,

I recently decided to start blogging again.. and by recently I mean eight minutes ago.

My previous blog posts [all two of them] were supposed to introduce me to the blogging world and be a starting off point so that I could somehow make money off of them. Instead, I got distracted and never logged back into wordpress to write more.

It’s a new year, and I’m going to try something new. I’m going to actually stick to something. I’m starting this blog from scratch. I don’t want to put a boundary on my topics, I want to talk about everything. Not just fashion for fatties*, or anything strictly for fatties. I want to talk about everything that interests me in life. Everything that I’m trying to do with my life, and the hopefully interesting things that I hope to accomplish with my life. Like my profile info says, I’m just trying to live my life as interestingly as possible, I mean it. I hope that I’ll be able to keep up with this blog and keep up with life at the same time.

So here it goes. My attempt at from scratch. I hope you like it.

*NOTE: I say fatties in the most loving way possible. I am fat, plus size, heavy, hefty, chubby, big-boned, large, whatever you wanna call it, but I will never EVER call myself a DIVA, BBW, or any other stupid name like that. I also hate fat girl movies.. I hate to break it to you girls out there, but I’m fairly certain that Zac Efron look alikes are not going to fall madly in love with you because you can dance. The world just doesn’t work that way, no matter how many movies try to convince you it does. And I’m not so narrow-minded either to think that there aren’t exceptions out there, I know that there are. So please don’t hate me already, please?

Hello WordPress.

So this is my first blog for all you WordPress-ers out there. lol. I guess I’ll start off what I hope to be a successful blog, with a little about myself. I’m 20 years old and a full time Art student. One day I’ll be declared a certified Art Teacher but until then I’m just trying to have fun and do as many different things as possible. I’ve got so many things going on in my head sometimes that I need to put them out into the world, and I suppose here is where I’m gonna put them.

I would like to write about all things that I love… all things that interest me art. fashion. cool random things. and definitely a few tips and tid bits for my fellow buxom beauties out there in cyberspace. So stay tuned cause there’s definitely gonna be plenty to read and enjoy.

Welcome to Guineo: A La Mode
